Images of an Acoustic Journey from La Biennale di Venezia

Man as Bird. Images of Journey is a special project of Pushkin Museum XXI as the Collateral Event of the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. It will be held from May, 13 to September, 5, 2017.
The exhibition presented 14 Russian and foreign artists working with different media: sound and light installations, video, photography, and art objects.
Man as Bird. Images of Journeys invites the viewer to travel across multiple dimensions – space, time and individual experience – which may alter perception of the world and of the self.
Sound, tactile sensation, and haptic vision allow experiencing one more space - the space of memory, which foregrounds the individual journey through the self.
Yuri Kalendarev is a sculptor and installation artist.
With his works, he creates a sounding universe redefining the concept of sculpture through a new aural experience, going beyond the sound itself, into the realm of pure acoustics.
The acoustic bronzes generate a large range of frequency oscillations that allow multiple interactions with our being. A new concept of sculpture that leads us through artist’s personal creative journey, where acoustic installations represent a sound space where creative meditation is performed.
