Dogs prefer reggae and soft rock, this is the result that came to light from the research.

The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s animal welfare charity, and the University of Glasgow have released a new research that suggests dogs have different music tastes and that particular genres of music affect their behavior.

So, similar to their human counterparts, dogs have their own individual music tastes.

“We were keen to explore the effect playing different genres of music had, and it was clear that the physiological and behavioral changes observed were maintained during the trial when the dogs were exposed to a variety of music.”

Professor Neil Evans added:

“Overall, the response to different genres was mixed highlighting the possibility that like humans, our canine friends have their own individual music preferences.

That being said, reggae music and soft rock showed the highest positive changes in behaviour.”

The study shows that Soft Rock, Pop, Classical, Reggae and Motown calm down the dogs, lowering their heart rate.

Plus, music in general, affects dog’s behavior; when the music was played, our canine friends spent more time lying and less time standing.
