At the opening of a long-overdue halftime performance, Lady Gaga recited part of the American Pledge of Allegiance, "one Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all" before flying on the stage at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
She showed that it is possible to bring politics into the music selection, in fact she shared a message of unity during her halftime show, spreading it just through the mix.
In the middle of an amazing show, which included acrobatics, pyrotechnics, and dancers, she sent a clear message performing an engaging “This Land Is Your Land” by the American folk singer Woody Guthrie. This song was written by Guthrie in critical response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" and it was sarcastically named "God Blessed America for Me" before renaming it "This Land Is Your Land".
“This Land Is Your Land” is nowadays famous also because has become a popular anthem at rallies protesting President Trump across US.
Her Pepsi Zero Sugar Super Bowl LI Halftime Show's performance included also such hits as “Poker Face,” “Telephone” “Bad Romance” “Born This Way" and "Just Dance".
It was a Super Bowl for everyone, as Gaga said at a press conference last week mentioning a “spirit of equality”.
“This performance is for everyone,” she added “I want to, more than anything, create a moment that everyone that’s watching will never forget”.
