Director Spike Jonze makes a comeback with Kenzo World

...But let’s not forget that this director has already made history with his music videos. Here’s a quick reminder.

If you’ve got a great team, even an advert can be a masterpiece. We’re talking about the advert, perhaps better referred to as a short film, that sent the whole world wild: the advert for new perfume Kenzo World.

The lively short focuses on an intense Margaret Qualley. Bored at a tedious elite event, she releases her frustrations to the sound of ‘Mutant Brain’, a track written as hoc by Sam Spiegal, the director’s brother, and sung by Ape Drums. The performance by the actress and dancer brings choreography by Ryan Heffington to life.

But what are the roots of this video?

The director is Spike Jonze, famous for his cinematographic masterpieces such as Being John Malkovich (1999) and Her (2013).

But before even becoming an acclaimed director in the world of cinema, Spike Jonze was a popular director for music videos. Much of his work has made history in the industry.

Here is a quick reminder of some of his videos that have created the perfect setting for unforgettable tracks thanks to their originality, controversial nature and imagination.
